O autor retoma os trabalhos teóricos de Freud sobre os sonhos, acrescenta trabalhos seus e de outros autores, propondo manter a expressão o trabalho do sonho dado por Freud e resultando a expressão elaboração onírica, entendendoa como um tema mais complexo estudado por autores pós-freudianos. Através da apresentação de seus casos clínicos, mostra que a elaboração onírica e a compreensão dos sonhos são possíveis através da análise das implicações transferenciais
