El autor retoma los trabajos teóricos de Freud sobre los sueños, añade trabajos suyos y de otros autores proponiendo mantener la expresión el trabajo del sueño dado por Freud y resaltando la expresión elaboración onírica entendiéndola como un tema más complejo estudiado por autores postfreudianos. A través de la presentación de sus casos clínicos muestra que la elaboración onírica y la comprensión de los sueños non posibles a través del análisis de las implicaciones transferenciales.
