Abstract

In approaching the theme ‘Mental Health of the Population and Psychoanalysis’, the author highlights, through an interdisciplinary dialogue, the origins of violence and trauma. By focusing on points of convergence between Psychiatry and recent advances in Neurosciences, he makes considerations about several studies, emphasizing the neurobiological factors involved in aggressive behavior that hinder psychic change. Likewise, he highlights the necessary approximation of the effectiveness of clinical situations to the efficacy of evaluation models using randomization, experimentation, and control of variables. In approaching specific concepts, such as maturation windows (Lorenz goose), neoteny, and neuronal plasticity, he approaches the human baby’s archaic psychic structure, which contains the origins of constructive impulses, as well as the roots of violence
