Death and the object

Death drive, Object, LossAbstract
The major aim of the present paper is to draw on Freud’s ideas to assess the relation between the companion and the object and how these perceptions – representations of the subject in relation to the object – occur. Based on Lacan, Green and other authors, the object is represented by its objectalizing function (Eros) and by its disobjectalizing function (Thanatos). The paper inquires into real death (not the death drive), into how it is perceived and felt in the subject’s psyche and how the notion of loss is processed, in case of loss of the real object.
