In this study, the author will try to conduct a specific study of hope on resentment and its relations to three memories: the memory of hatred, of pain and of fear, as he considers it to be a key affect, which allows highlighting, through its complex psychodynamisms, the articulation of terminable and interminable hope with disavowal and idealization in analytic cure. To do that, the author discusses the following topics: “You cannot ask an elm tree to bear pears” (Cervantes), or the vague hope of resentment; hope and mechanism of disavowal and of idealization; the kafkian groundwork and necropolis of analysts; hope and hopelessness in the memories of hatred, of fear and of pain.
