The author investigates the meaning of “psychoanalytical observation”, using as a starting point her own psychoanalytical identity development process. This paper presents some realizations through clinical material from three patients, and highlights the occurrence of dreamlike images in the analyst´s mind during the analytical session, as an expression of the quality of the psychoanalytical observation.
