Abstract

From a reading of José Bleger’s text on ambivalence and ambiguity in psychoanalytic writings since Freud and Melanie Klein, it is suggested the creation of the concept of ‘basic ambivalence’. It’s stressed the importance of this concept in understanding Melanie Klein’s work from the 1930s on and how from it we can resume several aspects of the theorizations of the author and some of her followers.
