The author first defines limit state mainly from Andrew Green’s contributions, based on the theme of thought. He then defines borderline disorder, as well as its connection with trauma. He considers that limit state and borderline disorder are two distinct poles of this discourse, and state limit is connected with the theme of psychotic core, while borderline disorder is connected with a wide theme of trauma. He finally defines the concept of trauma, distinguishing it from the idea of displeasure and frustration.
