Abstract

After Freud, the idea of envy has widen considerably. Departing from clinical life experiences, mainly with patients where adjacent function is observed, and the attempt of an approach with reputable and well known theoretical conceptions, the work of Rafael Lopes Corvo about self-envy or envy-about-oneself seemed, to me, a theory to be thought about. Much as on clinical practice as on daily life one can observe individuals who, through continuous action, of what I consider envy, cannot develop and accomplish their intellectual and artistic potentials, leading their lives to an example of dramatic waste, suffer and frustration. This is the tragic feature of envy – the offense to oneself. The clinical activity and the conceptions are in constant motion and, hence, liable to new inquiries.
