Abstract

The author studies the birth of the disempowered self in four stages. In the first, she presents the clinical material that will be the guiding axis of the discussion, focusing on the intrapsychic dynamics. Then, she gives voice to the child that the patient may have been so that she can describe in the first person the mode of presence of her object in the early bond, in an intersubjective approach. In the third part, she shows how this mode of presence made it difficult to achieve the subject-object separation and the development of its autonomy/empowerment. Finally, she approaches the clinical work with patients who present this type of suffering: the main characteristics of the transference-countertransference field and some ideas on the therapeutic strategy.
