The family, despite being the most persistent form of social organization, has undergone radical changes throughout human history. Sociocultural contexts shape new models because we humans, unlike animals, do not have a genetic inscription that governs sexuality. Our sexuality is conditioned by the social fabric, and sexual presentations depend on the power structures prevailing in each era and culture (Moreno, 2014).
In modernity, a period beginning in the 18th century and predominant until the mid-20th century, the family played, for the first time in history, a prohibitive and simultaneously promoting function of sensuality within the parent-child bond. This was the context in which Freud was immersed when he created psychoanalysis. He believed that what he found in the realm of sexuality and the institution of family was a characteristic of the human, independent of era and culture (Moreno, 2014). [...]
