This paper shows how Sigmund Freud’s person, his life and his theory are related to Jewish history and the way that the creator of psychoanalysis formed his Jewishness. The article makes a historical analysis on Jewish thought, on the context in which Freud was inserted and his family history. Discuss, moreover, aspects of birth, marriage and death of Freud, relating them to Judaism aspects that would color his psychotherapy creations. Some theoretical clinical principles constructed by Freud, which roots are in sources of Jewish tradition – or at least possibly influenced by them – were also analyzed.Downloads
