Empregando referenciais relacionados com memória celular, a autora trata da questão dos traumas – particularmente do trauma da concepção – que, registrados no decorrer da experiência pré-natal, irão se manifestar na vida mental pós-natal. Para ilustrar sua proposta a autora recorre ao material clínico de P. nos primeiros quinze meses de análise. Conta a experiência que a levou a intervir fazendo referência à memória celular (registro de uma concepção traumática: relação agressiva entre óvulo/espermatozóide e mãe/concepto), para lidar com as dificuldades que o paciente apresentava para estabelecer vínculos inter e intrapsíquicos e a maneira em que, pouco a pouco, ele foi rompendo a capa de impostura em que se envolvia e que o impedia em estabelecer qualquer contato de mente com mente e de crescer mentalmente.
