Throughout Freud’s work the concept of desire is defined and assumes different shades, especially when the issue is the women wish for child, a wish that can be of a narcissistic or oedipal predominance. These instances of predominance may prove more evident when one deals with women seeking assisted reproduction treatments, creating different types of bonds. We have also observed in some women another way of trying to get pregnant which seems more connected to a buildup of excitement and investment, in which the bodily organs are the source and the object of the drive, which brings us to the idea of intrasomatic libido. This work aims to present the different sides of the desire and raise questions about another form of expression that would be connected to pregnancy almost as a mere body discharge, connected to the intrasomatic libido, and clinical illustrations will be used for this purpose.
