The author focuses on the biography of Gustave Flaubert, written by J.-P. Sartre and published by Gallimard, in 1971-72, to follow the unfolding of the different phases of his personal and artistic development, paying attention to the disturbances manifest in each of them, which will lead to a final solution which, if it is successful from the point of view of literary achievement, does not bear witness to a satisfactory routing of one’s own existence on the plane of personal fulfilment.
