Psychoanalysis as an Unheimliche science
beyond the neurosciences

The present paper has as its goal to reflect about the relation between psychoanalysis and neuropsychoanalysis. In order to achieve such objective, the author will use as a starting point the thoughts of the neuroscientist Eric Kandel on this topic. Through its speculations, the author visits two aspects: on one hand, questions the neurosciences, thinking about the importance of Freud’s main statement, that is, the unconscious; and, on the other hand, argues how it is essential for the psychoanalyst to nurture a commitment in keeping the singularity of his science, established by the principle of uncertainty, a knowing and an unknowing that comes from the ramifications and derivatives of the drive inscriptions on the unconscious, that both reveals and covers it.
