Abstract

Otherness, according to the dictionary, is the nature or condition of what is other, what is distinct. The man as a social being has a relationship of interaction and dependence with the other. Thus, the “self” in your individual form can only exist through contact with the “other”. However, otherness isn’t presente or lost itself in cases of violence, repudiation, intolerance and prejudice. And how can we think of otherness in the context of the actual scenes of sexual seduction? At the incest scene? In scenes of pathogenic impact, which do not refer to incestuous desires, but to consummate incest? Unlike Oedipus’s fantasy of seduction and incestuous desires, incest itself breaks, invades, condemns. While the prohibition of incest supports a logical function without which everything would be confused, incest blurs the boundaries of the family and introduces confusion, as well as the idea of banality of acts and repetitions. Through a clinical vignette we intend to discuss these and others aspects of what can become an “invivable” experience.
