“I hit you because I love you” – about violence against women

The pandemic that rages us has denounced something that has long been known: gender violence. We are facingan increase in the number of cases of violence against women, including many cases of feminicide. This violence is not only the result of sadomasochistic aspects, but the combination of intrapsychic, transgenerational, cultural and social factors. Through a clinical report of a patient who experienced a situation of violence and supported by contemporary psychoanalytic theory, we seek to understand these increasingly common phenomena in our society.
